Grzywinski+Pons : Hôtel Eden Locke

In the heart of the New Town district of Edinburgh (United Kingdom), a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the Eden Locke Hotel. Directed by the American design and development agency Grzywinski + Pons, this green setting is bathed in pastel shades, warmly adorned with wooden furniture.

Eden Locke, Edinburgh's second largest hotel, is located in the New Town district, built by British architect James Craig in the late 18th century to cope with overcrowding.

It is the result of the renovation of an old sandstone three-storey mansion and its extension during the twentieth century, located at the back of the structure. The old Georgian building has on the ground floor a majestic foyer of 22 meters long by 5 wide, and 72 rooms - single and double - spread over the floors.

On either side of the vast reception area of 110 square meters, the American studio installs on one side a long bar in light wood and brass, whose color oscillates between copper and pink, and on the other a waiting room and rest. In an atmosphere of tranquility, the pastel shades of the green walls and earthen pots of ocher flood mingle with the soft knits of the chairs and sofas. A few yellow panels above the counter and similarly colored suspensions placed in the living room revive the whole.

In parallel, the layout of the 30 square meters each is very simple, with beds embellished with a leather headboard, separated from a small living room with pink and pale gray walls by wardrobes metal and brown brass pipes.

A great place to stay and rest after braving the cold English winter.
