Studio Modijefsky : Wyers & Miss Louisa

Imagined by the Dutch Modijefsky studio, as part of the renovation of the Kimpton De Witt Hotel in Amsterdam (Netherlands), the Wyers restaurant and its Miss Louisa café are inspired by the building's past, fabric.

Located at the intersection of a busy pedestrian street and a busy artery leading to the railway station, this property provides a quiet break in a hustle and bustle. After passing the entrance turnstile, the customer is directly grasped by the 300 square meters of the restaurant with triangular plan, the warm and intimate atmosphere.

The space is organized around two bars, placed on either side of the kitchen: one rectangular in marble and solid wood; And the other, triangular, taking up the same materials but with a lighter woody essence.

The influence of the history of the place is reflected in the choice of wall coverings and furniture. The benches are dressed in velvet, a noble and comfortable material, used in various shades of green for the Louis Philippe seats and other sofas with tubular backs, reminiscent of the large rolls of fabrics present in the haberdashery. These elements take place around square and rectangular wooden tables and chairs made of the same material including a leather seat. The whole is installed on a floor in herringbone parquet, surrounded by walls in clay marble or ocher plaster. The lighting is also worked to create an intimate environment, similar to the clandestine bars of the American Prohibition era.

At the point where the two urban arteries meet, the Miss Louisa Café, which specializes in the preparation and sale of breakfasts, offers a different atmosphere, brighter and more relaxed than the Wyers. This small graphic space is dressed on the floor and walls of white and black geometric ceramic tiles.

An original rehabilitation offering two different atmospheres, but equally comfortable, allowing the residents of the hotel as well as the curious ones to enjoy a bubble of tranquility in an effervescent capital.
